Scholastic Book Fair 5/1-5/4 - Shop & Volunteer!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Northrup next week - Mon 5/1 through Thurs 5/4 at Open House! 

Students will have the chance to buy books during the day. More information on shopping days will be shared as it becomes available. 

Our Northrup School Librarian is organizing the sale, but she has asked for PTA to help recruit volunteers to help run the book sale & set-up/take-down. She is only at Northrup for a few hours a day (time dedicated to working with classes & students), so she needs all the help she can get to offer our students this book buying experience. Volunteers Needed - Cinco de Mayo Fiesta!

We're planning a Cinco de Mayo fiesta, but we need your help to make the party come alive!

We have several ways that you can get involved:

• Help make school decorations (Thu 5/4)
• Decorate the school (Fri 5/5)
• Help run booths on-campus during lunch (Fri 5/5)

Book Bingo - Redeem Your Bingo for Prizes!

Have you been enjoying the PTA Book Bingo?

Our first prize redemption opportunity will be tomorrow (Thu 4/20) during recess and lunch. Students can visit our PTA table along the breezeway (walkway) near the Teacher's Lounge.

There's still time to participate! We'll have another opportunity to turn in Bingo sheets again next week (Thu 4/27).

Family Fun Night - Thurs 5/18

Family Fun Night is coming! Bring your family for a late afternoon of FREE fun, activities, games, and entertainment!

Join us on Thursday May 18 from 5:30-7:00 PM.

Because this is an afterschool event, students need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. Bring the whole family and enjoy this super-fun event!

Family Literacy Night TONIGHT 5pm

Please join us for a fun events worth fun & stories! We have special guests coming to read  aloud and a special visit from an published children's book author! Drop in for a little while  or stay for the whole event. Teachers will also be on-hand to provide tips for how to better engage your students in reading and boost reading comprehension. Join us today!

P.S. Bring your book bingo card as well! And mark off some boxes!

Family Literacy Night - Wed 4/5

Please join us this Wed for Family Literacy Night at Northrup! From 5:00-6:30 PM, there will be fun activities for families to listen to stories and learn about reading and literacy! The school has invited special guests from the community - including civic leaders & first responders!

We will also have an author visiting! Through a grant from the National PTA, our Northrup PTA was able to fund a special visit from Debbie Yamada, a published children's book author who will be reading from her book and sharing about being author. Debbie's work draws on her diverse background, inspiring students to look within and write about the stories on their hearts. Her work includes Striking it Rich: Treasures from Gold Mountain (an intergenerational retelling of the experiences of Chinese workers during California's Gold Rush) and Old Charlie the Fire Horse (a fictional picture book based on the antics of a real-life fire horse who worked during the Gold a rush).
