Volunteers are needed to help run booths and activities for 30 minute shifts during the Family Fun Night. Shifts are short to allow everyone time to spend with their families

DI Program Check-in Tomorrow - Tue 5/9

The last DI Program Check-in of the year will be held tomorrow, Tuesday May 9 at 5:00 PM on Zoom. This is an opportunity for families to hear program updates from the school specific to the DI program. Families will also be able to ask questions or share concerns they have about the program. This is a wonderful opportunity to engage with Northrup School staff and administrators.

Open House Tomorrow - Thu 5/4 from 5-7PM

What a year it has been! Our students have grown and learned so much! 

Northrup School will be hosting an Open House tomorrow, Thursday May 4 from 5:00-7:00 PM. This will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your child, their class, and the year they've shared.

Visit us at the PTA Table at Open House. We will have: 

•  2022-23 TK-5th grade yearbooks📕 for sale - Yearbooks can be purchased for $30 in cash and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. 
• Book Bingo Card Drop-off 🕮:  Drop-off ANY remaining Book Bingo cards - Even if they're only partially complete. Be sure to include your child's name and teacher. Prizes will be delivered to students at a later date.
• Information on Family Fun Night 😀- Learn more about this super-fun and FREE event to celebrate our families and school!

The Scholastic Book Sale 🛒will also be open during Open House. The Book Sale is located in the school library. This will be the last chance to buy items at this year's sale -- everything will be packed up to return to Scholastic on Friday!  All proceeds from the sale will go to the school library to purchase NEW books and materials for students to use throughout the year. Hooray!

Mandarin DI Parents - There will be a Parent Workshop tomorrow night (Tue 5/2) at 5 PM to share resources for Mandarin resources that students can use over the summer. Every year this workshop has proven to be especially useful in staying active with Mandarin over the summer.

Scholastic Book Fair 5/1-5/4 - Shop & Volunteer!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Northrup next week - Mon 5/1 through Thurs 5/4 at Open House! 

Students will have the chance to buy books during the day. More information on shopping days will be shared as it becomes available. 

Our Northrup School Librarian is organizing the sale, but she has asked for PTA to help recruit volunteers to help run the book sale & set-up/take-down. She is only at Northrup for a few hours a day (time dedicated to working with classes & students), so she needs all the help she can get to offer our students this book buying experience. Family Literacy Night TONIGHT 5pm

Please join us for a fun events worth fun & stories! We have special guests coming to read  aloud and a special visit from an published children's book author! Drop in for a little while  or stay for the whole event. Teachers will also be on-hand to provide tips for how to better engage your students in reading and boost reading comprehension. Family Literacy Night - Wed 4/5

Please join us this Wed for Family Literacy Night at Northrup! From 5:00-6:30 PM, there will be fun activities for families to listen to stories and learn about reading and literacy! The school has invited special guests from the community - including civic leaders & first responders!

We will also have an author visiting! Through a grant from the National PTA, our Northrup PTA was able to fund a special visit from Debbie Yamada, a published children's book author who will be reading from her book and sharing about being author. Debbie's work draws on her diverse background, inspiring students to look within and write about the stories on their hearts. Her work includes Striking it Rich: Treasures from Gold Mountain (an intergenerational retelling of the experiences of Chinese workers during California's Gold Rush) and Old Charlie the Fire Horse (a fictional picture book based on the antics of a real-life fire horse who worked during the Gold a rush).
