We'll be posting more ideas, but here here are some places to start your search:
- Classroom Libraries: Diverse stories are as near as your classroom bookshelf. Ask your teacher for recommendations!
- School Library: Our Northrup school library has books with diverse characters and stories. Visit during lunch recess to read or check out a few books.
- School Apps: There are apps with books and stories on your Clever dashboard. If you can’t find an app on Clever, click the “Alhambra USD” or “More apps” links on the left-hand menu bar. Epic! is available during school hours.
- Online: There are also books available online to read or listen to online. Here are some places to look online:
- Tumblebooks: https://www.tumblebooklibrary.com/home.aspx
- TeachingBooks: https://www.teachingbooks.net/diverseBooks.cgi (search for “Readings of Complete Books, Stories, or Poems” to find entire books)
- Public Libraries: Your local library is a great place to look for new books and stories. They also offer:
- In-person and virtual children’s story times (sometimes in languages other than English)
- Fun reading programs & contests
- Libraries also offer ebooks & audiobooks for use online or by download. Be sure to look for Tumblebooks & Overdrive Libby.
